Mask Makers

The Mask Makers Project is an effort to honor the people who are giving their time, energy and resources to help slow the spread of Covid-19. This series of portraits reflects on the importance of helpers in our lives. Focusing attention on kindness and community in a time of division and mourning. As a caregiver and then a home care supervisor I have learned how important it is to care for our communities as a whole. The mask makers are more than just people who know how to sew, they are people who see a problem, and ask “How can I help?”.

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the scarcity of personal protective equipment (PPE) has directly impacted front line workers. Home sewn masks are one way to help keep each other safe, while allowing medical PPE to be directed to healthcare workers and support staff that are fighting to save as many lives as possible.

If you would like to help support this project, your donation will go toward creating artist quality limited edition prints, the first of which will be given to the Mask Maker. Your donations will help cover the costs printing, postage, and framing the originals for exhibition. The remainder of any funds donated will go to the Emergency Response Fund-Coronavirus CDC Foundation.
